Good housing forms a big part of wellbeing, causing community cohesion and interaction. This understanding was the core idea of the competition looking for housing plans to create and encourage better living environments. The site was located in the Pjazza Gavinu Gulia area of Bormla, a part of the housing improvement action area. The external appearance of the buildings is a typical representation of the Malta building stock with large limestone blocks and stone surrounds. Combining minimal structural changes and new non-load bearing walls, we created exciting, safe and pragmatic communal living spaces around three apartment units. The interior approach was aimed at giving the users a safe and comfortable space while providing the workers a practical stage to work.
