This scheme encompasses the penthouse and newly built loft extension of an existing building in Eira, a historic villa district in Helsinki. The building was designed by architect Oskari Vilamo in 1912.The flat was entirely renovated, changing the existing spatially divided layout to suit the client's needs. Private quarters were relocated on the newly built second floor. A staircase was incorporated as a part of the main living room, functioning as both a library bookcase and necessary vertical circulation. The upper floor was arranged to adapt to the roof forms and enchanting natural light. All built-in cabinetry and interior materials were carefully considered to convey architectural minimalism while remaining warm and inviting.
