Lapland's lake area terrain is fragmented into elongated peninsula forms. This pair of houses is built on one of these peninsula endpoints. The orientation of the house upon the 50 meter wide peninsula gives open lake views in both eastern and western directions. The old house, originally built of logs, has been entirely renovated, both inside and out. The new building functions as a ceramist atelje (studio) and primary home for the family. The atelje's floor level is raised a meter above ground, level with the winter snow.
